My granddaughter Tally decided one night while we were over for dinner that grandma’s nails needed color. So she went to her collection and picked out a lovely shade of green and put it on my nails (and also my cuticles and some of the skin surrounding the nails). I laughed and said “How lovely,” while all the while thinking to myself that I would take it off when I got home. After all, I’m a 62 year old woman and these kinds of colors are for teens, right?
Well, I didn't take it off that night, and the more I lived with it, the more I started to like it. I also started to think why I have limited myself to reds, pinks and occasionally orange color on my nails? Like a lot of women my age, I limited myself because of traditional thinking.
No more! If I am working on a signature style then I need to give myself permission to explore and not say to myself, “I’m too old for that” or “I’m too heavy to wear that.”
I think many of us do that, we wear labels like they are restrictions…
Action Item: think about one item you have wanted to buy but thought “No, that’s not for me” and try it.
Share with here what happens… now I am off to see what kind of new hair color I’ll try next!
